Fire Cider has been used and shared for generations as a remedy to ward off sickness and promote health. Fire Cider is really an herbal oxymel. This is simply a mix of raw, organic apple cider vinegar, raw honey, and herbs. With its tart, sour, and slightly sweet zing, raw apple cider vinegar has a hardy dose of health benefits.
Apple cider vinegar has been used for issues ranging from gastrointestinal problems to heartburn, and for metal clarity, energy, immune health, and a variety of other first-aid measures. In fact, for centuries traditional medical textbooks from around the world described vinegar as a remedy for dozens of ailments, from fungal and bacterial infections to wounds, pain, stiff joints, blemished skin, and more. In the 40's, when the field of medicine was revolutionized, vinegar fell into disuse. Overshadowed by the more powerful pharmaceutical medications and the sometimes immediate and dramatic results they offered, natural medicines were left by the wayside.
However, we are seeing a resurgence of natural medicines. Modern laboratory analysis has since verified the antibacterial and antiseptic properties of vinegar and is finding many of the old-time uses are just as applicable now as they were decades and even centuries ago.
Several studies have shown that apple cider vinegar helps the body balance blood sugar levels. For example, one study of people with type two diabetes who did not take insulin showed that if they took 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar at night, before bed, they had lower glucose levels in the morning. Another study, found that people diagnosed with insulin resistance who drank apple cider vinegar mixed with water before eating a high carbohydrate meal had lower blood sugar levels afterward, compared to those who did not drink the diluted vinegar.
A 2012 study first measured the base cholesterol levels in its participants. Participants then had to consume 2 TBSP of apple cider vinegar a day. After 2, 4, and 8 weeks researchers took these measurements again. After 8 weeks, the apple cider vinegar consumption had lead to "significant reduction in cholesterol levels".
Several recent studies have also validated cider vinegar's ability to fight infections.
Our certified herbalist took an old folk remedy for boosting the immune system and added the extra benefits of black elder berries. We also combined the medicinal benefits of fresh basil, fresh horseradish, fresh ginger root, onions, fresh garlic, fresh jalapeño, and orange peel to create this delicious, fiery plant medicine.
Elderberry has been long used for its antioxidant activity to support and moderate the immune system.
Raw honey is honey that is pure, unheated, unpasteurized and unprocessed. This is perhaps one of the most important characteristics and health benefits of the final product, as it preserves all the natural vitamins, enzymes, phytonutrients and other nutritional elements. Bee pollen is a super nutritious compound, containing all the nutrients required by the human body. We use raw, unprocessed honey from a local family farm.
We use only the purest, highest quality, locally sourced and certified organic ingredients available. We don't use store bought extract or ingredients from Amazon (with a source that can't be trusted or traced) in our process. We also don't use ingredients found along contaminated creek banks or roadways. We know the source of all of our ingredients.
